Meet Ryan
Dr. Ryan Nielsen is a Jungian scholar, Oxford University Press published author, professor, jazz musician, and somatic skills coach — whose work, published and presented internationally, invites an experience of creative living and meaning through image, sound, and story.
His scholarly work has been featured on the Jungian Psychology Space and its French counterpart, the Espace Francophone Jungien, and he has presented to the International Association of Jungian Studies. He was a keynote speaker at the Rencontres de Provence in Aix-en-Provence, France, and co-keynoted the 11th Annual Symposium on Art and Psyche — an international gathering exploring Alchemical Imagination — in Ireland alongside his wife Holly, a visual artist working in the Jungian and mythic tradition. He appeared on the 2026 Metamorphosis Online Global Summit alongside Jungian, somatic, and mythic thought leaders including Michael Meade, Kimberly Ann Johnson, and Tayria Ward, and has been a guest on the Mormon Stories, On the Soul's Terms, Trust the Process, and Artifice podcasts.
Ryan's jazz recordings have received international acclaim, and he is completing training in BodyDreaming — Marian Dunlea's somatic, Jungian, and attachment-based approach to working with the deeper layers of human experience.
A session with Ryan is felt as much as it is thought. Clients describe a quality of being held — by the imagery, by the stories the stars carry, and by someone who has lived deeply inside this material and knows how to bring it into contact with a real life.
Ryan and his wife Holly live in Utah with their three children, Holly's garden, and Ryan's books.
